My Story…
Before I became a Federally Licensed Firearm Dealer, I used to get frustrated beyond belief with all the bureaucratic red tape and regulations surrounding the Firearms Industry. Every time I wanted to purchase an unusual or hard-to-find firearm, I had to find a wholesale dealer who was willing to order it for me and then deal with the transfer fees, background checks, and everything else!
And what about Gun Shows? To me, there is nothing more exciting than attending and participating in a Gun and Knife Show. I have found dozens of great buys on rare or collectible firearms at a Gun Show but could not purchase them because I didn’t have the correct pistol permit or a Concealed Carry Permit for that particular state. What a bummer! I realized that having a Federal Firearms License would open many doors for me, but quite frankly, I was intimidated by the idea of opening this relationship with the Federal Government and the ATF. What if I did something wrong? We all know that dealing with the IRS every year is bad enough. Would I end up having another government agency to satisfy as well?
Finally, I decided enough was enough. On the advice and instructions of a good friend, I applied for and received my Federal Firearms License with no problems or hassle at all. Pretty soon, friends and relatives heard about my license and began calling me to order firearms for them. Almost before I knew it, my hobby turned into a full-time business that I still operate today from my own residence. I couldn’t be happier! My only regret is that I wasted so much time feeling frustrated and helpless when the solution was so simple. That’s why I wrote and published the original FFL Kit. After all, not everyone has a friend who can help to understand and complete the process right the first time. I want everyone who enjoys trading in guns and who has experienced the frustration and obstacles that confront ordinary citizens to know that there is a better way.
